The Environment

Everyone is concerned about sustainability and our individual and collective impacts on the environment. We're also concerned about the costs and life of building projects and home improvements.

At Kinniburgh Pools we take our obligations to the environment seriously and have worked hard to identify partners who are also committed to the environment.

We also want to help you predict your energy costs because the worst thing is a surprise. There are technical, tried and tested formula concerning energy usage and heat loss, so we provide you with the information and help with the planning and building warrant process. We're innovating with design - and you may be innovating with your lifestyle - but the materials and construction techniques are established and been used on numerous domestic and commercial projects across the country.

Our Pinelog pool buildings - which can accommodate a gym or spa too - are constructed mainly in Scandinavian redwood and larch, from sustainable wood sources.

Pinelog combine the appeal, durability and minimal maintenance requirements of timber with the latest concept in timber building design constructed to the highest quality standards. Pinelog itself has been accredited with ISO 9001:2000 for its Quality Management systems. Because of advanced timber treatments the buildings can be expected to have a long working life with low U-values and high thermal efficiency to comply with the latest building warrant standards. This also results in low maintenance, translating into lower running costs for you.

Our Marquis Spas are made from energy efficient materials - solid foam insulation is proven to be the most energy efficient means of keeping spa water warm. It is also highly efficient, doesn't degrade and contains no ozone-depleting substances. This solid foam prevents heat loss through the spa wall and footwell, insulates the plumbing, reduces vibration, adds strength, quietens your spa and saves energy costs. Marquis's patented water management system provides a natural and easy way to maintain your water, and reduce the amount of chemicals necessary to maintain sparkling clean water.

Our Polypools have predictable energy costs, dependent on size and situation of the pool and the patented e clear filtration system reduces the need for chemicals for maintenance and makes pool use far more pleasurable.

As a guide, a 30ft x 12ft (9m X 3.6m) indoor swimming pool, run on electric Economy 7 would cost in the region of £1,200 per annum, less than £25 per week. This is assuming that the pool is to be used every day of the year. Existing customers tell us that when they have got used to maintaining their indoor pool, on average they spend about half an hour each week cleaning the pool, checking the chemical levels and the filtration system.

Biomass Boilers avoid the use of fossil fuels and use a carbon neutral process to heat pools and can be easily installed as new, or to replace your current gas or oil boilers. But instead of burning the rapidly diminishing supply of fossil fuels it burns a sustainable alternative called biomass e.g. wood chip, wood pellet or cereals, from Scotland. This produces heat for your central heating system and hot water while helping to counter the impacts of climate change. This is a highly efficient, sustainable heating mechanism. A biomass boiler would heat a 5-bedroom house or a commercial unit up to 4,000 sq ft at a cost of approximately £3,890 with a 30% grant for domestic use and a 4-year interest free loan for commercial use.
